Yaroslav Shemet is a conductor recognised for his orchestra building leadership and insightful, architecturally expressive interpretations. With extensive experience across symphonic and operatic repertoire, he serves as Artistic Director of the Silesian Philharmonic in Katowice and General Music Director of the Baltic State Opera in Gdańsk.
Conducting orchestras since the age of 13, Shemet developed his career early as a touring orchestral conductor across Europe and Asia. He has worked with ensembles including the Orchestra of the National Theatre in Prague, Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, Sinfonia Varsovia and Staatstheater Braunschweig, and has appeared in major venues such as the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Konserthuset Stockholm, Shanghai Grand Theatre and the Lviv National Philharmonic Hall, as well as at festivals in Bayreuth, Munich and Hong Kong.
His work has earned nominations for the Polityka Passports, the Fryderyk Award, and the International Opera Awards (Rising Star category).
